Wavelengths of 660nm Red and 850nm Near Infrared
Effective red and near infrared light therapy requires very specific wavelengths of light, specifically 660 nanometers which is red light and 850 nanometers which is near infrared light. Over 3,000 published studies have shown these two specific wavelengths to have the greatest biological impact on the cells of the human body. Red light is best for superficial skin treatments, as it does not have the ability to penetrate quite as deeply as near infrared light. Near infrared light is best for treating deep tissues such as joints, muscles, and even the brain, because of its ability to penetrate deeper into the human body.

Irradiance is a measure of power output.
A high irradiance is crucial for effective red light therapy treatments. Our panels deliver around 5 joules of light per minute of use from 6 inches away. For skin and topical treatments, you want to shoot for between 3J and 10J of light per treatment area. For deep tissue treatments, you want to shoot for between 10J and 50J of light for a treatment area. This means, with our panels, all you need is less than ten minutes in front of the light for an effective dose of light.
Red and Near Infrared Light Therapy
Dosing is of the utmost importance when it comes to red and near infrared light therapy, as there is a concept known as the biphasic dose response. In short, it means that too little of a dose and you are leaving benefits on the table, but too high of a dose and you are actually losing some of the benefits.
Generally speaking, all you need is less than 10 minutes with just about any of our devices. The larger the device, the larger an area you can treat at one time. We sell devices ranging from small, targeted treatments you can take with you in your bag or purchase, all the way to large, full body panels. For skin and topical treatments, you only need between 3J and 10J of light for a treatment area, which you can get in just a couple of minutes. For a deep tissue treatment, you want between 10J and 50J which may take up to 10 minutes or so.
We recommend using red light therapy once or twice a day per treatment area.
